2015 Belle Of The Turf Stakes Tips & Selections

January 9th, 2015

The top weight mare had been a $6 shot in the betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au and was set to jump from barrier four but now Mamwaazel will be the sole horse saddled by the top Sydney trainer.

Five of the eight runners are offering single figure odds in the betting, led by firm favourite Peace Force at $3.20. The mare has won her past three starts but will her form stay intact as she steps up to black-type racing for the first time?

Check out our betting tips and selections for the 2015 Belle Of The Turf Stakes below and see if any take your fancy for a punt.

1st

#5 Fare Well ($12)

The Clarry Conners-trained four-year-old mare has placed in just nine of her 21 career starts but showed potential at the end of last year after just missing out on placings in both the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) and Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m). Fare Well will jump from barrier three with Sam Clipperton to ride and is a good betting prospect for punters looking for a risky bet. She has won and placed in her two prior starts at Gosford.

2nd

#8 Mary Lou ($5.50)

Anthony Cummings’ four-year-old mare has scored the inside jump from barrier one with Jason Collett to ride, putting her in a great position to win the Belle Of The Turf Stakes. Mary Lou has placed in seven of her eight career starts, including a last start win of the Sportsyear Handicap (1400m) on December 26 where she easily won by just under two lengths.

3rd

#2 Myamira ($5.50)

Defending champion of the Belle Of The Turf Stakes, Myamira has her work cut out for her on Friday afternoon. The mare had both won and placed in races over the mile leading up to last year’s race but remains placeless from six starts this year. She was sent to Melbourne during the spring where she failed to hold her own against the country’s top horses but trainer Rod Northam believes she’s back in form following a strong finish in the Tab Place Multi Plate (1600m) last time out. Is the market mover of the field after her price shortened from $6.50.
